Right from the first Call Of Duty game released in 2003, a new COD title has released every year. Usually, Activision announces a new title somewhere around April-May. But given the COVID-19 pandemic situation, there may be delays in the Call Of Duty 2020 title.
Notable esports insider Tom Henderson tweeted it may be delayed more than everyone expects:
Continuing with the bad news. I also got word that the next CoD reveal might be pushed back into August. pic.twitter.com/5aJEusLbId

Over the last few months, there have been various reports and leaks regarding this year’s Call of Duty title. Almost all of them have pointed towards one title- Call of Duty Cold War. Popular COD insider GamingRevolution pointed out in one of their earlier videos that the new title may be a reboot of Black Ops set in the Vietnam/Cold War. Take a look:
Does Black Ops mean two different Battle Royale Games?
While Cold War/Vietnam War may be a possibility, another addition may be a Blackout introduction in battle royale. Blackout was the first time Call Of Duty introduced BR in one of their games. So the question is, what will happen to the existing Call of Duty: Warzone?
Tom Henderson tweeted saying they won’t exist separately but will be a combination of both. Check it out over here:
A lot of people are worried about this, but what I’ve been told is that they will not be separate entities. Their won’t be IWs Warzone and Treyarchs Blackout. They’ll be the same BR… Just bits of both incorporated (maybe bits of the Blackout map?) https://t.co/gwqrmOBk6D

Why the Speculation Around Call Of Duty 2020 Black Ops: Cold War?
This year, the original Black Ops game completed 10 years. Treyarch put out a video remembering the same on May 18th 2020. Instead of taking it as a simple celebratory video, fans obviously went around looking for clues regarding the next title. The suspicions and leaks look more legitimate now that Treyarch has posted two more videos in the last two days. The videos talk about how it is to work in engineering and the Art & Animation department at Treyarch.
These seem like simple videos at first but when some users got a closer look at them, things fell in place. People noticed a clip in the background of these videos from CoD World War 2. This could mean that Treyarch & Raven working in collaboration with Sledgehammer Games for the new title. GamingRevolution also discusses the possibility of this clip being a trailer for the Call of Duty 2020 title. It could also give us some background as to how Call Of Duty 2020 was developed.
The resurfacing of the World War 2 clip could also mean that they are looking to develop the game around the next set of military tensions the US had post World War 2, which is the Cold War or the Vietnam War.
In any case, these are still just speculations and rumors. We cannot say anything for certain till Treyarch makes any kind of official announcement regarding the same. But, since the game has already been delayed, we may soon at least see an announcement of this year’s title.
